Traffic safety continues to be a Service priority for the Toronto Police Service. On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 7 a.m., the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the Toronto District School Board, will be launching the annual back-to-school Campaign, "Back to School - Back to Basics, Remember Road Safety." This two-week initiative will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 and conclude on Friday, September 12, 2014.

Police officers as well as Parking Enforcement Officers and representatives from the Toronto District School Board will be on hand at Wilkinson Junior Public School, 53 Donlands Avenue, from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., to educate parents and children on back-to-school safety tips as well as road safety.

This campaign will focus on road-users who blatantly and carelessly put children at risk as a result of their poor driving habits. All police officers and Parking Enforcement Officers will be paying attention to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who commit offences in the vicinity of school zones, including offences related to pedestrian crossovers, crosswalks, intersections and high-risk mid-block crossing behaviours.

Enforcement will also be targeting aggressive driving offences, prohibited turns, and distracted driving behaviours, along with "No Stopping" and "No Parking" restrictions within school zones.
